(Bidge, j.luna, Sef, Heidi...Feb 2005)Before Cloud Control was formed, Heidi Lenffer was an apiring journalist from Australia who went to the PI for her OJT at Philippine Daily Inquirer. During that time, Malcontent (my old Grindore band) had just went on a hiatus , so I and the band's bassist Sef Fontamillas decided to form a band called A Letter To Elise with Skimouche's bassist /vocalist Bidge Perez (currently plays for Too Late The Hero). We were experimenting with the then budding New Nu Wave/Garage music which we were tripping on during those days...
(Heidi Of Cloud Control)Enough of that here is the band bio from LTE's old friendster acount:
Letter To Elise.. the band was born on Feb. 06 2005, at a dormitory room found somewhere in Dakota, Manila. It was after a friend's birthday bash, when the boys decided to stay in the flat to pass the night. Before sleeping the guys listened to a "The Cure" cd , and woke up inspired-- and so, " Letter To Elise " was born.
The following week was dedicated to forming the band. The boys cranked up their guitars and practiced playing songs by " The Cure " and " Morrissey " ( the idea came up when, during the party the boys sang "Boys Dont Cry and "The More You Ignore Me" on the videoke and thought "...why dont we just cover those bands?" , and the rest of the story began.)
A week later the boys were planning to go to a fiesta in Buting (Pasig city), when an emergency occured-- Heidi Lenffer ( an Aussie journalist, and a friend of Bidge ) lost the suite she was renting and had to look for another place to stay. So the guys picked her up, and the whole bunch slept over at the Dakota flat afterwards. The next day Heidi left and the would be guitarist-vocalist, decided to stay because he was too tired to go home, so the whole band stayed together for 3 nights bonding with each other. Then came the first milestone of the band, February 13-- it was the first studio practice of the band.. It was also the day that the boys formally baptised the band " LETTER TO ELISE " (after a The Cure song ).
Nobody knew about the band, even close friends.
The first preview of the band came on the 16th of February during a joint practice with Isla De Lata (Winnie Balingit's band). This practice came after the boys brought Heidi to Singalong and inroduced her to Bobby Balingit of The Wud's, whom she also did an interview and got a free Juan Isip CD from.
The two bands practiced near Singalong. Heidi was there and she did vocals for LTE.
February 18th, Heidi went back to The Land Down Under, and Letter To Elise had their first gig at The Philippine Normal University.
What happened afterwards...2006 and beyond
(Letter To Elise (RIP, 2005-2006)After a year, j.luna graduated and became quite busy looking for and working shit jobs.
Sef who became a nurse and Bidge pursued his career in advertising while juggling stints with three bands.
The band sadly disbanded after some gigs, but j.luna and Bidge were able to record a single entitled "Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid"
